This module is the second (2) out of 12 modules describing the methodology for slum upgrading developed through the PSUP. This module presents the importance of building integrated communication and partnership strategies for increased visibility, awareness and sensitization on the achievements and challenges of slum upgrading for mobilisation of partnerships, resources and for a mindset change towards slums. The module also provides tools to build the strategies.
Communication and partnerships have a broad outreach at global level for increased advocacy and awareness. Participatory Slum Upgrading is a collaborative effort between several different stakeholders including national governments, city councils, community representatives in slum neighbourhoods, all of whom must be informed on the challenges, principles and mechanisms of slum upgrading at all stages of the participatory slum upgrading process.
